Wait? What? What did I just say? Well, it seems that our all powerful Government has gotten into the mobile phone business, and as usual they have decided that they want to spend, uh .. I mean lose money while doing it. You see, they are giving away the phones and the minutes to use on them. Oh, but only to people who are already latched on to the Government dole for support. So, instead of rewarding people who are making their way on their own, they reward the people who are already getting handouts. According to their own propaganda, you can “qualify for Assurance Wireless if you participate in Medicaid, Food Stamps/SNAP, Social Security Income (SSI), or other government programs”. I was unable to find any type of definition for “other government programs”.
Wow, seems to me like they are sending the wrong message, and really, I think this is just one more way that the folks in charge are buying votes. I mean, let’s get real, if you are already not having to work for a living because you are getting funded by the Feds, and now on top of that they toss in a new phone and service for free to boot? Who the heck would you vote for, the people that keep giving you free stuff, or someone that might want to cut that back and expect you to take care of yourself just a little bit.
Yeah, that’s what I thought too.
I was sent this link recently that shared a story about Howell, New Jersey where they are waiting on hurricane Irene to come home and roost, and a local Best Buy there that is working hard to gouge people in need. This article goes to show that the Best Buy in question is selling 24 packs of water at an astonishing $40.56! That’s an insanely high inflated price, at a time when (as the article writer says, to which I agree) we should be working together to help one another, not fleece our fellow man in any way possible.
I knew Best Buy was run by a bunch of crooks, but this takes the cake. Heck, I didn’t even know they sold water (they don’t in my home town), but I think they will sell anything if it means turning a buck. Check out the original article for information and updates, I don’t want to steal their thunder, but this was one thing that had to be shared. Just another notch in my hate stick for Best Buy. Why do all big corporate companies also have to be jerks?
Forgive your enemies – It really messes with their heads!
Oops, I did it again … no, I didn’t write a really bad pop song. What I did do was break the site again *sigh* Oh well, sorry if anyone came by (yeah, both of you) and saw the site down, sometimes I get ahead of myself I guess. I’ll try to be more careful, but hey, what’s life without a little adventure!
OK, for anyone that came by the site in the last few days and noticed that links weren’t working as they were supposed to, you aren’t going crazy … well, probably not anyway, it was my fault (the links, not your dementia). I moved my site to another one of my servers, one that is newer and has more rocks in it’s pockets, and subsequently broke my permalinks in the process. I didn’t notice until yesterday, so they are fixed now but were out of whack there for a bit. Oh well, I just can’t stay mad at me, at least it’s back on track now
I am bringing the site out of the moth balls, with a new look even, and will be adding some new book reviews and diatribes based upon the world around me. I will be back filling reviews and comments on books I have read recently, so don’t think I can read them as fast as I will be posting them here soon. With any luck, I’ll be adding more creative stuff too.
Welp, it’s been awhile since I gave my site any TLC, I have been quite busy lately. So, today I fixed the downloads section so the music stuff is back up now, plus I added my resume too, so hire me if you need an experienced geek. More to come … enjoy!
I posted the rest of the story, Hiding From The Moon for anyone who wants to read it. Be warned, it’s in the Horror genre and although I don’t think it’s super scary or anything, I thought I would preface that it’s not a happy sunshine warm summer in the park kind of story.
I have a story that I wrote that I wanted to share, so I decided to post it in segments. I’ll be putting it up in chapters, one or more at a time, whatever strikes me at the time. It’s called Hiding From The Moon and it’s a Werewolf tale that goes down the horror path. If you are in the mood for something along those lines, take a look and see. The first part/intro is up now.
Welp, for all you visitors that stop by here (yep, both of you!), I decided I am going to back fill some content on this sight. Back fill? What does that mean, you ask? Well, I have some (mainly) music that has been kicking around for years now that I am going to add to the site. Some of it is old stuff, some more recent, and some people who know me have already heard it. I thought this would be a good place to put it though, since I will be adding newer stuff as I get it finished. I’ll be tossing some song lyrics and stuff up here too.
